THE GUARDIAN MARTYR OF IRAQ
In memoriam Saddam Hussein

I see your little cell
An abode of peace *
On the edge of Baghdad airport
Where you watched and prayed
For your suffering homeland
Now it is bereft of your presence
But still your spirit endures
A fountain of faith, hope and courage
In a desolate landscape
A warm hearth in a ruined house
A bright flame
That the strongest gale could not extinguish
A beacon guiding your nation
Through the dark night of occupation
The Guardian Martyr of Iraq’s liberation
A blessed companion of all who keep faith
