Get the Danish troops home now
By Carsten Kofoed, Free Iraq Blog of Denmark, October 6, 2006
Denmark has now lost six soldiers in Iraq (two
Danish soldiers have been killed recently in Basra, on September 23 and October
5, translator’s note). But the Danish war government is assuring that it will
continue supporting the US oil occupation and is using the UN, the yells of the
illegitimate puppet regime for protection and a false song of solidarity going
that young people from other countries would have to substitute the Danish
troops if they were withdrawn, as "arguments".
But an opinion poll carried out by the University of Maryland in September shows
– despite the fact that all the mass media in Iraq are in the hands of the
occupying power – that the support of the Iraqis for the armed resistance has
grown strongly, to 61 percent. Furthermore, 78 percent of the Iraqis think that
the US military presence is "provoking more conflict than it is preventing."
The Iraqis see the Danes in Iraq as occupiers and US lackeys, no matter what
they or the Danish government think. The Iraqis do not want them. Therefore,
they are being killed by the legitimate Resistance of the Iraqi people. It is
the war criminal, Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen, who sent Denmark to war,
that carries the responsibility. Get the Danes home now and save human lives!
