Recently, the Pentagon admitted that President Saddam Hussein is considered as a prisoner of war. Yes, indeed, he is a prisoner of war. He was captured in a fierce battle that lasted more than 30 hours in which many casualties fell on both sides. According to many reports from inside Iraq gas bombs were used in this battle, in order to neutralize the Iraqi National Resistance fighters. About seventy fighters were sedated from these gas bombs; among them was President Saddam Hussein.

The use of gas in this battle was unethical and a violation of International Laws that the Bush Administration is always talking against but the same Administration is using. Beside the human casualties from these gas bombs thousands of chickens located in the farm where the battle took place died from inhaling this gas.

After the battle the American aggressors pretended that Saddam Hussein was a fugitive and that he was hiding in a hole in the ground, a lie that did not go that far, the house and the location showed dates on the palm trees behind the little house where they pretend that the President was hiding, what a lie Green dates on the palm trees in the month December.

The unethical presentation of the President of Iraq to the International media reflects the Bush Administration short sidedness and hate to human values. Saddam Hussein a strong man, who is a head of a legitimate state, was presented drugged in order to humiliate him, to humiliate the Arab nation and all those who support Iraq against occupation. This act is coward and will not affect the National Resistance nor it would humiliate any anyone except the members of the Bush Administration.

Certainly the Resistance was not humiliated but it was recharged with more incentive and force. Its action and support is spreading across Iraq, in the Center, in the South and in the North. The Fight against the aggressors and their supporters is in not retreating. It is gaining momentum.

Last week, the Arab Baath Socialist Party that leads the Armed National Resistance issued a statement regarding the classification of Saddam Hussein as a prisoner of war by the Pentagon.

The statement asserted that the Imperialist Occupying Forces admitted that they are holding President Saddam Hussein as a prisoner of war. The Occupying Forces must honor the Geneva Convention, especially the Third and Fourth Agreements, and   must be applied to the President of The Republic of Iraq.

The statement was released on January 12, 2004, in the names of the people of Iraq, the Armed National Resistance, the Arab Baath Socialist Party and the Arab Nation. It asserts that Saddam Hussein, the legitimate President of the Republic of Iraq and the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces is a prisoner of war with the American Occupying Forces. He was captured in the continuing confrontations against the occupying forces.

The agreement of the Geneva Convention concerning the Prisoners of wars must be applied to its fullest and President Saddam Hussein is no exception. If the Application was not taken to the spirit and letters of the Geneva Convention then his capturing would be considered as a political kidnapping and treated as such stated the press release.

The occupying forces and the United States Government would be liable for failing to adhere to the laws of the Geneva Agreement. They will be responsible for the consequences of such failure.

The statement said, "The United States knows very well that the Armed National Resistance is able and capable of retaliating on time, anywhere and any time.

The statement considered that the occupation of Iraq and the capturing of Mr. Hussein are transient and temporary. The Resistance will continue until the occupation is defeated and Iraq is free and liberated.

The Occupying Forces have the choice for an alternative to war, a complete and unconditional withdrawal. Mr. Saddam Hussein, the President of Iraq and the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces is trusted and entitled to discuss the unconditional withdrawal of the occupying forces from Iraq. He has the right to speak in the name of the People of Iraq and in the name of the Resistance."
